RecognizingVIP Member, Dr. Karen A. Roopnarine

 

Dr. Karen A. Roopnarine has over 14 years of experience in her field. As an Economist with the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, she handles all research, forecasting, and analysis for serial publications concerning Trinidad and Tobago’s labour market. Apart from specialising in labour market research, Karen also performs research in the area of development economics as it pertains to income equality, gender-related issues, and climate change.

Having followed a natural progression in her career, she has been passionate about economics since secondary school. She is known for her econometrics skills and Evidence-based policy research. She holds a doctoral degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom.

Karen has written research papers on a wide range of topics, including the gender wage gap, chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs), female labour force participation, and more. Her master’s thesis, which discussed Derivatives Trading in the CARICOM sub-region, is published in a regional journal.

She is looking forward to networking and connecting with like-minded professionals and gaining the recognition and credibility of being a member.

RecognizingAnna Hägerstrand

 

With over 25 years of professional experience in her field, Anna Hagerstrand is a Project Manager of Special Projects at Blue Water Shipping A/S in Sweden, a freight shipping company. In this role, Anna provides transport solutions globally but with an extended expertise in shipments to Africa.

Anna has been in the forwarding industry since 1995 and would like to continue working in shipping and to expand the staff and working segments at the company. She hopes to network as much as possible with likeminded professionals worldwide. Anna credits her success thus far to her commitment to providing for the needs of her clients.

In her spare time, Anna enjoys travel, training, exercise and spending time with her two daughters. She is also a Mary Kay Salesperson. Anna has a wide experience within Industrial projects and oversize shipments in both sales and operations. Her experience includes, among others, many years of turnkey projects to the African Continent and KAM for key clients. She is looking forward to connecting with like-minded professionals.

Jacqueline Sanz is the Chief Compliance Officer of Caldwell Investment Management Ltd, an award-winning independent investment management firm that has been providing innovative solutions to meet the requirements of investors for nearly three decades. A seasoned professional recognized for regulatory compliance and risk management, Jacqueline serves as the second line of defense, overseeing compliance, acts as the independent executive in mitigating conflicts of interest matters inherent in the industry and serves as liaison between the company the various regulatory authorities. Known for her ability to think strategically, she provides advice and management support to meet key strategic business initiatives and priorities.
 
An innovative and critical thinker, Jacqueline has a clear understanding of the need to balance regulatory expectations, client needs, business priorities, financial performance and shareholder value. She completed her education in Economics with Honors from Wilfrid Laurier University, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
 
Throughout her career, Jacqueline has demonstrated a significant contribution to the development and implementation of effective risk-based integrated compliance frameworks and programs across multiple entities, international jurisdictions and registrant categories. She possesses a keen foresight and client-centric perspective, that have paired with her natural self-reliance and results-oriented mindset, to make tough decisions, guide others, and align business objectives with optimal compliance risk management.
 
Based in Etobicoke, ON, Jacqueline is proud to have made an impact in the business landscape, aligning companies and clients with industry best practices in risk management and the CFA Institute Asset Manager Code. She is an active contributor to the industry via her volunteer based contributions to the National Society of Compliance Professionals (Canadian chapter), the Portfolio Management Association of Canada, the Investment Funds Institute of Canada, and has served as Chairperson for the Summit for Asset Management Toronto 2018 and 2019 Compliance Forum conferences.

RecognizingJaqueline Laruccia

 

Jaqueline Laruccia has been an internationally successful Accountant, Controller, Internal and External Auditor, and Finance Specialist for over 13 years in multinational successful companies. She is currently the Infrastructure Controller at Facebook in Brazil. This role includes liaising with the Central International Accounting Team in Dublin, Ireland to the LATAM Regional Team. Jaqueline spearheads full compliance with company regulations and corporate strategy as well as review of monthly accounting reports for 6 countries including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Chile. She handles all budgets and projected cash flow reports for each company, and oversight of monthly accounting processes.

Jaqueline is a Certified Public Accountant Licensed in Brazil and in the United States. She has worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Brazil and Miami, Florida, as an external Auditor, for eithg year, since the start of her career, having worked with internal controls, statutory attestation and team coaching. Jaqueline then moved to multinational private companies. She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from IBMEC in Brazil and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from The University Nove de Julho. She also completed an Executive Education and Finance Certificate Program course with Harvard Business School.

Jaqueline is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish and in her spare time loves to play guitar, practice Kung Fu and is very physically and spiritually centered.

RecognizingJessika Kostetzer

 

For the past 2 years, Jessika Kostetzer has been working as an engineer and since 3 months ago she started as a partner of Intelectual Engenharia Ltda. She offers construction services, creates models and blueprints, and helps clients to realize their construction and renovation goals. A seasoned project manager, she negotiates contracts, runs meetings, and guides her team to ensure project completion within deadlines.

Jessika holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the state university  UDESC – Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina. She is a member of the Engineering and Architect Society in Brazil: CEAJ – Centro de Arquitetos e Engenheiros de Joinville, and credits her success to her personal training and expertise. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue to build and work with companies, and to gain new partners, building her network.
